Just in case you’re not aware of it – Hollywood is about to get Biblical on our asses this 2014. First on the assembly line is Darren Aronofsky’s How To Build An Ark guide Noah, which features Russell Crowe as the titular ship craftsman, along with a roll-call of thespians playing biblical types including Jennifer Connelly, Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson and Logan Lerman, lots of CGI water and animals. If anything, judging on the trailer, it looks like Aronofsky has nailed that ‘epic’ look, but many climactic scenes distractingly resembles like the Battle of Helm’s Deep or something out of The Lord of the Rings. But then again, what do you exactly expect of the Bible? Anything goes.
See the UK trailer and poster below:
Here’s the US trailer, too, which is assembled slightly better.
Turns out Paramount is not only dabbling with the Christian tome. 20th Century Fox is developing a Moses film called Exodus with Ridley Scott directing and Christian Bale starring, and Warner Bros. is purportedly working on another Moses-themed film. Good lord, Hollywood seems to be seriously running out of ideas these days. I mean, how desperate can the industry get when everyone turns to the Bible.
