The legendary Faye Dunaway looks gorgeously chic in this 64th Cannes Film Festival official poster due next month. It’s a truly stunning, minimalist design (one in which you wouldn’t mind hanging on your hallway to show off your cultured taste), and great choice of photo – which was taken by filmmaker/photographer Jerry Schatzberg in his 1970 debut Puzzle of a Downfall Child, starring none other than Dunaway herself. It’s receiving a restoration and set for re-release on Cannes next month, with Schatzberg and Dunaway attending.
At first glimpse, Dunaway can be mistaken for Liv Ullman in Ingmar Bergman’s Persona, but apparently this is what the festival body seeks to represent – ‘a model of sophistication and timeless elegance’. Fair enough. Whatever it is, Funaway looks drop-dead beautiful in this one.
