Yes. Jim Jarmusch’s new one is a vampire comedy. Fresh from Cannes and London film festivals, the marketing team for Only Lovers Left Alive (groovy title, by the way) has now unveiled the first trailer for this bizarrely romantic and deliciously dark and deadpan gem that’s swiftly becoming a cult vampire favourite. The reason being, mainly, is that it perfectly serves up an antidote to all po-faced, witless, artless vampire movies that besieged our cinema as of late (cough, vomit, Twilight). It also helps that the eccentric yet wonderful pairing of Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston as the snobby, deathless, centuries-old couple provide much of the film’s witty banter, hilarious literary references and melancholic contemplation of the clusterfuck that is the modern society and what it actually means to be a vampire. It might be one of Jarmusch’s best. See the gorgeous trailer below.
